Acoelorrhaphe wrightii
Acoelorrhaphe wrightii is 6 to 8 meters tall, and 80% of Acoelorrhaphe palms in a tasistal savannah are burned to burn their bark. These are the heights you see along the rivers, streams and lagoons of El Golfete and near Río Sarstún to the north.
Description
Acoelorrhaphe wrightii palms grow in clusters; each group of 5, 9 or perhaps up to 15 stems, solid root mass. It is not common to find independent palm trees. It grows in the Municipality of Livingston, some areas of Peten and Alta Verapaz, it is also found in the Yaxhá, Nakum and Naranjo National Parks. It is found along rivers in specific locations.
