Supersonico
Libuše Jarcovjáková
Supersonico is a purely photographic, visual, authorial project of editor Lucie Černá and photographer Libuše Jarcovjáková. The compact world of her photographs diverges and reconnects, communicates together, and stands on contradictions. Photography is a living medium here, a personal statement, a mapping of territory. Raw, unsharp black and white analogue images are mixed with colour digital cluster of data and photographs taken with a mobile phone. The richness and diversity of the material, unrelated at a cursory glance, is a visual pilgrimage. An excursion into the world of the artist's imagination, which was hidden until recently.
After a few rounds of Moscow Mule, it was clear that a walk around the area to photograph nocturnal animals in the nearby Mauepark would not be possible. I walked down the iron stairs to the bathroom. On the way, I shot a short video of a magically changing installation placed above the staircase that could easily have been inspired by the Czech avant-garde of the 1930s. I snapped a few selfies in the dark toilet and on the way back I reflected that I might be part of a completely different space-time than I thought. Libuše sat with her back to the window, carefully arranging the remaining olive pits in a row. Thoughts and wishes hovered over the table. Warm summer nights. The sound of the sea. The desire to wander, to take pictures and publish another book.

Supersonico is not only a book revealing other layers of Jarcovjáková's work; Supersonico completes the idea of who the photographer Libuše Jarcovjáková is.
The book contains 100 colour and black and white photographs taken from the 1990s to 2022.
