Feeding
Can be difficult to acclimatise to aquarium food initially. Feed live brine shrimp to induce feeding, then feed a mixture of frozen food for carnivores. Prior to purchase ensure that the fish is feeding.
Will eat ornamental crustaceans and fanworms, and may pick on Tridacna clams. Feed a mixture of frozen food for carnivores

Origin (from Fishbase)
Indo-West Pacific: Red Sea and South Africa, including the southeast coast (Ref. 4392) to Easter Island, north to Japan (Ref. 38029), south to Australia. Not found in the Hawaiian Islands, but replaced by the closely related Anampses cuvier.

General

Keep only one male per aquarium although several females can be kept together. Introduce all fish together.

As this species buries itself in the sandbed at night or when threatened. It must be kept with at 2" of fine sand bed.

Do not keep this fish with boisterous species.
