Television’s top source of dyke drama is officially coming back to our screens. That’s right: The L Word: Generation Q has been renewed for season 3, coming to Showtime later this year.

The second season of The L Word: Generation Q ended with cliffhangers for many of our favorite characters. Bette Porter (Jennifer Beals) was left to decide between pursuing her ex, Tina Kennard (Laurel Holloman), or making things right with her girlfriend Pippa Pascal (Vanessa Estelle Williams). Meanwhile, Gigi Ghorbani (Sepideh Moafi) and Dani Nùñez (Arienne Mandi) tried to smooth over their relationship, but those efforts imploded when Dani was arrested during dinner with Gigi’s family. To add to the suspense, Tess Van De Berg (Jamie Clayton) and Shane McCutcheon (Katherine Moennig) faced a romantic crossroads of their own, with Tess leaving for Las Vegas to care for her mother, who’s dealing with dementia.

Sadly, we’ll have to wait until The L Word: Generation Q’s season 3 release date to find out how all these storylines get resolved. But when exactly is the new season dropping? Who is lesbian R&B icon Kehlani playing? And can Tess and Shane just work things out already? Here’s everything we know so far about The L Word: Generation Q’s upcoming season.

When will season 3 of The L Word: Generation Q come out?

The Generation Q gang will be back just in time for the holiday season. Season 3 premieres Friday, November 18, on Showtime. This season will consist of 10 episodes, airing weekly, and streaming on Showtime’s app.

Who’s in The L Word: Generation Q season 3 cast?

Singer-songwriter Kehlani, whose pronouns are she/they, is officially joining the cast this season! She’s playing a character named Ivy, a makeup artist and young mom who’s been unlucky in love. According to Showtime, they also apparently fall for the wrong person, but good luck figuring out who that is. Kehlani celebrated the casting news with an Instagram slideshow with a caption reminiscing about her days spent binge-watching the original L Word.

Also joining the cast are Margaret Cho, playing herself as a talk show host; Joanna Cassidy, playing Tess’ mom Patty; and Joey Lauren Adams, playing a self-deprecating barista named Taylor. Original L Word stars Jennifer Beals, Leisha Hailey, and Kate Moennig are all coming back for Season 3, reprising their iconic roles as Bette, Alice, and Shane, respectively. In June, the show’s official Instagram page shared a snapshot of the three hanging out at a bar that looks an awful lot like Dana’s to celebrate the start of filming.

Also returning are Arienne Mandi (Dani Nùñez), Jacqueline Toboni (Finley), Jordan Hull (Angie Porter-Kennard), Leo Sheng (Micah Lee), Rosanny Zayas (Sophie Suarez), and Sepideh Moafi (Gigi Ghorbani). And that’s not all! Season 2 guest stars Jamie Clayton (Tess), Laurel Holloman (Tina), and Rosie O’Donnell (Carrie) have all been promoted to series regulars. The more the merrier, we say!

What will season 3 of The L Word: Generation Q be about?

While Sappho herself couldn’t predict the drama that will befall the Generation Q gang this time around, the show’s official social media account dropped a few hints when they shared a photo of the cover page for the season premiere’s script. It’s full of juicy teasers, like “I wanna watch you fuck my ex/our ex/your clone,” “I wanna f u on my livestream,” and most intriguingly, “Someone gets married?” Is one of the Generation Q couples ready to cast their angst aside and tie the knot? We’ll have to wait until November to find out.
