V, affectionately known as the second youngest member of BTS, has officially announced the release of his debut solo album. Since BTS announced a break last summer, several members of the group have been hard at work on solo material, whether it be solo albums, solo tours and festival circuits, or individual documentaries.

Over the last few years, V has released a collection of dreamy ballads with indie-pop sounds, including “Winter Bear,” “Sweet Night” from K-Drama Itaewon Class, and “Christmas Tree," which was featured in the original soundtrack of the K-Drama Our Beloved Summer. Yet, this is the 27-year-old singer’s first ever collection of solo work, so it goes without saying that it is highly anticipated. Below, find out everything you need to know about V's solo album, including its title, release date, track list, music videos, and more.

What's the name of V's debut album?

V's debut solo album is titled Layover, stylized as Layo(V)er. BIGHIT shared a visual teaser for the album release, showing a series of packages covered in stickers of V and wrapped in purple tape with the album’s branding on it, spontaneously arriving on the doorstep of every apartment in a single complex.

When does V's debut album come out?

Layover was announced on August 8, exactly a month before its release date on September 8. The artist’s label released a “promotion map” of the rollout for Layover, doodled on and written in what we assume is V's own handwriting on a yellow lined memo pad page.

The map starts with Tuesday's album preview and pre-order availability. At midnight Korea Standard Time on August 10, the music video for the project's first single “Love Me Again” will be released; then on August 11, in conjunction with the “Rainy Days” music video and the two singles' streaming pre-release, “photo 1” will drop; “photo 2” arrives shortly after on August 16; and on September 8, the “Slow Dancing” music video will hit our screens and the entire Layover album will be available to stream.

What will be on the Layover track list?

The album will be a six-track collection: “Rainy Days,” “Blue,” “Love Me Again,” “Slow Dancing,” and “For Us,” plus a piano version of “Slow Dancing” as a bonus track. In a press release, BIGHIT revealed that the album is designed to be listened to in order from 1 through 5 and that each song will get its own official music video.

The label emphasized “Slow Dancing” as a focus track — probably one that will ground the rest of the songs on the album — and described the song as a “1970s romantic soul style track [that] exudes a laid-back and free-spirited feeling.”

BIGHIT went on to also provide descriptions for every other song on the album: “'Rainy Days' captures V’s voice beautifully melding with the sound of rain and everyday white noises. ‘Blue’ is an homage to old school R&B with a modern twist in sound. ‘Love Me Again’ is a captivating R&B track that highlights V’s low pitch voice. ‘For Us’ is a pop R&B track that serves as an epilogue, stirring up deep emotions with V’s vocals and unique lyrics."

What else can we expect from V's Layover?

V, a pop icon in his own right, has teamed up with NewJeans’ creative director Hee Jin Min, who oversaw overall choreography, design, music production, and promotion of the album. BIGHIT promised in a statement that Layover will showcase “a new side” of V's charm as well as celebrate the artist's “personal taste.”

This story will be updated as more information about BTS' V's solo debut album Layover becomes available.
