Description

Help children remember the difference between lowercase 'b' and 'd' with this helpful picture chart. Since children are introduced to the left to right reading and writing concept early on, teaching them to give a "Thumbs Up!" will aide them in distinguishing the 'b' and 'd' letters in those early reader activites. When a child sees their left hand with a thumbs up it's shaped like the letter 'b', and the right hand looks like the letter 'd'.

For years I have had incredible success with this idea, even with dyslexic children. I introduce the concept by singing the first four letters of the alphabet, while lifting my left hand Thumbs Up! when I say the letter 'b' and then lifting my right hand when I get to the letter 'd'. So the next time a child is struggling with a word like "dot" or "cab", just remind them to give a Thumbs Up!

You have a choice of 3 different thicknesses of dotted "b" and "d" to choose from to better suit your classroom. Follow me to see other helpful classroom charts and materials to be added soon!
