Highly regarded German conductor (1886–1944) who became embroiled in controversy with the rise of the Third Reich. Though vehemently anti-Hitler, he was widely viewed as a Nazi sympathizer, which severely impacted his career. Vintage matte-finish 7 x 9.25 photo housed in its original 11.75 x 15.5 folding mat-mount, signed and inscribed (in German) in pencil on the mat, “Mr. Schrader in remembrance of many nice hours of making music together at Bayreuth 1937, Wilhelm Furtwängler.” A hint of silvering and wear to edges of photo and some very subtle spotting to mount, otherwise fine condition. Scarce and impressive! RRAuction COA.
