Brent A 50% rating ... Fairly decent entry for Disney, but not necessarily the most memorable. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/24 Full Review Matthew M A movie with such a charm and the best Disney movie from the 1970s. While the plot is a bit thin it's still a very enjoyable watch with likeable and entertaining characters. Benard and Bianca especially have great chemistry. Medusa might not be one of the most memorable villains but still an enjoyable character. A few of the scenes with Penny are a little sappy but still heartwarming. One of those movies that leaves you with a nice feeling with you finish. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/13/24 Full Review Trafalgar L "The Rescuers" is a film adapted from the novels "The Rescuers" and "Miss Bianca" by Margery Sharp. The film's plot is about two intrepid members of the all mouse Rescue Aid Society who are sent to rescue a little girl who has been kidnapped and held hostage on a rotting riverboat by a greedy pawn shop owner. This is probably one of the more darker Disney films out there. Its themes involve child abduction, abuse, and abandonment but it does indeed have a powerful message about faith and self worth. It's also a reminder that people like Madame Medusa indeed exist, and that they will use who and whatever to get what they want. It's a cautionary tale about being careful with who you trust, but it's cleverly disguised as a family film. The fact that it came out after Walt Disney's passing and was a box office and critical hit is indeed a miracle. Because the company had been in a crisis up until then. I highly recommend this movie, but it may be off putting for anyone under the age of 6. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/08/24 Full Review liz R Utterly charming. One of my favourite Disney animated films. Friendship, comedy, rescues, city and swamp both captured beautifully. A treat. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/28/23 Full Review Derek L Whilst the animation was best at its time, however the Rescuers despite some fun moments, ends up being forgettable. Victoria Mather Daily Telegraph (UK) Although not one of the studio's classics, it has warmth, humor and delightful characterization. Apr 21, 2022 Full Review Angie Errigo Empire Magazine A solid, child-friendly work which will keep little ones content, if not mesmerised. Rated: 3/5 Sep 3, 2008 Full Review Variety Staff Variety Four years of work were invested on this $7.5 million production and the expense, care, and expertise shows. Sep 3, 2008 Full Review Carson Timar ButteredPopcorn The Rescuers is a film often forgotten, and it is easy to see why. While the film might not be a total disaster, it simply is bland and sadly wastes some genuine talent from both the animators and the performers. Jan 14, 2023 Full Review Tony Vandenberg Washington Blade Overall, it is entertaining and ideal for children ages one to one hundred. May 23, 2022 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins While it isn't the most complex or emotionally involving of Disney's masterpieces, it's still a notable work with loveable characters and family-friendly adventure.
