See just how different Nathan Drake looks in Uncharted 4 on PS4

This weekend, developer Naughty Dog showed off the first gameplay from its PlayStation 4 exclusive, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. The developer's artists also showed PlayStation Experience attendees the lengths at which they're going to to make protagonist Nathan Drake look increasingly photorealistic.

Thanks to a higher fidelity 3D model for Drake, new physically based shaders and improved lighting, the Uncharted star looks incredibly lifelike on PS4.

The comparison shot of Drake's model on PS4 versus his last appearance on PS3 in Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, seen above, shows just how far Naughty Dog's art team has come. The new Drake is clearly a bit older, grayer and a lot more human looking. Naughty Dog is now able to render more realistic hair — including facial stubble and chest hair that blows in the wind — and change the way veins and muscles look on Drake's arms.

More importantly, Drake's famous half-tucked henley shirt looks more realistically half-tucked than ever before.

You can check out a handful of images of the new Nathan Drake in the gallery below. If you didn't make it to this weekend's PlayStation Experience, you can catch a replay of Naughty Dog's art panel, which is embedded below.
