Rosie O'Donnell Annoyed Over 'Jeopardy!' Cancellation

Rosie O'Donnell has expressed frustration at her regular Jeopardy! viewing being disrupted by a basketball game.

The popular syndicated quiz show was canceled in some markets on January 17 due to the Los Angeles Lakers facing off against the Dallas Mavericks. The NBA showdown left comedian O'Donnell unimpressed, as it meant she couldn't watch the Ken Jennings-presented show, which she declared she has watched "every night of [her] life."

Taking to TikTok on the day of the game, the A League of Their Own star posted a video bearing the caption: "Where is Jeopardy!!!!"

"OK, I hate when Jeopardy! is not on because of sports," she said in the self-shot clip. "Now, I love sports, I love football, I love basketball. But it's kinda early in the season. We're still in football [season].

"We don't need to cancel Jeopardy! do we? I mean, come on people—it's Jeopardy!"

After reciting Jeopardy! announcer Johnny Gilbert's show-opening introduction ("This is Jeopardy!), O'Donnell told her followers: "Every night of my life I watch it."

Last April, Jeopardy! broadcasts were also canceled in a number of markets due to the NFL draft, which took place in Kansas City, Missouri.

Jeopardy! recently moved in a new direction by dropping co-host Mayim Bialik. The Blossom star had been sharing hosting duties on the primetime show with Jennings since 2021.

Bialik took to Instagram in December to share the news that she wouldn't be returning to the lectern for the main program. The Big Bang Theory star's contract wasn't up at the time the decision was made to drop her from the syndicated show.

"As the holiday break begins in Hollywood, I have some Jeopardy! news," she wrote. "Sony has informed that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy!"

Bialik went on to state that she was "incredibly honored to have been nominated for a primetime Emmy for hosting this year and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of the Jeopardy! family."

The verified Jeopardy! account followed up with its own announcement on Instagram, stating that Bialik "has announced she will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of Jeopardy!

"We made the decision to have one host of the syndicated show next season to maintain continuity for our viewers, and Ken Jennings will be the sole host for syndicated Jeopardy!"

The statement added that the show executives "are truly grateful for all of Mayim's contributions to Jeopardy!, and we hope to continue to work with her on primetime specials."

Bialik previously divided opinion when she took to social media to share the final messages of a victim of the Hamas attacks on Israeli settlements. In an emotional video, she read out "text messages sent from the last moments of people's lives in Israel."

While many supported her for speaking out, her decision to share only messages from a victim from Israel, and no Palestinians, sparked backlash.

Since exiting the Jeopardy! fold, Bialik has continued to speak out in support of Israel.
