Ryan Reynolds, known for his acting skills and witty humor, had his dreams of owning an ice hockey team melt away just before he delved into the world of Formula One. However, this setback didn't deter him. Teaming up once again with fellow actor Rob McElhenney, Reynolds has recently acquired a 24 percent stake in the Alpine F1 team for a cool $216 million. It seems they are on a roll with their sports ventures, as they already hold positions as chiefs at League Two side Wrexham.

Reynolds, eager to explore a new sporting endeavor beyond football, had his sights set on purchasing the Ottawa Senators, a National Hockey League (NHL) team up for sale following the passing of owner Eugene Melnyk. Together with real estate developers The Remington Group, Reynolds put forth a bid worth over $900 million, hoping to be part of a consortium to acquire the team. But, alas, fate had other plans.

At the eleventh hour, Reynolds withdrew his offer after his request for an extension, crucial for securing a new stadium for the ice hockey franchise, was denied.

Undeterred by this setback, Reynolds made efforts to immerse himself in the world of ice hockey. He met with the mayor of Ottawa and even attended a Senators game, showing his genuine interest in the sport. Nevertheless, businessman Michael Andlauer now appears to be the frontrunner to purchase the club, leaving Reynolds to focus his attention elsewhere.

He will focus on his role at Wrexham

For now, Reynolds has shifted his focus to his role at Wrexham, especially after their triumphant promotion from the National League as champions. Additionally, he has his eyes on Alpine, who currently hold an impressive fifth place in the constructors' standings in Formula One

As speculation circulates, it's estimated that Reynolds' net worth stands at an impressive $356 million. With his relentless entrepreneurial spirit and comedic charm, there's no doubt he'll continue to make waves in the world of sports and beyond.
