The KS Kapālama Ka Mōʻī student newspaper team held a launch event on Tuesday to promote their brand-new mobile app. As of Tuesday afternoon, more than 200 students and staff members had downloaded the app.

The Ka Mō’ī App provides users with access to the newspaper’s website through the use of a phone-based app, which is available through the Apple and Google Play stores. The app showcases news stories produced by the Ka Mōʻī staff as well as the Puka Mai Ka Lā broadcast team, daily bulletin items, school announcements and more.

The innovative app is the result of a five-month research, development, approval and implementation process that was initiated by Ka Mōʻī Website/Technology Director Joby Lum.

“I wanted to be able to expand our reach as a newspaper and I thought that using an app would make it convenient for students to access our content,” Lum said.
