Tips
  • The Kunsthofpassage is far away from the "main sights" of Dresden, but it is beautiful and interesting and definitely worth a detour.

  • The Kunsthofpassage consists of a complex of five smaller courtyards. Each courtyard has its own design theme and its own name in combination of art and architecture.Yard of the Elements
The courtyard of the elements consists of a blue-colored façade with rainwater pipes (element water) and a yellow facade with aluminum plates (element light) on the west side of the courtyard. The Court of the Elements is the creative work of three artists. Annette Paul, Christoph Roßner and André Tempel were inspired in St. Petersburg by the bizarre architecture of the downpipes. These are far larger in diameter than in Germany and run open in wild turns over the facade. A rain theater immediately pours water through the gutters and is caught by a pool of water. This spectacle for the eyes and ears attracts visitors to the Kunsthof even when it rains. Opposite the sun-yellow wall are golden aluminum panels that decorate the wall as if blown down. They reflect, reflect and multiply the incoming light.
    Farm of the animals
The facade in the "yard of the animals" is held in green color decorated by animal reliefs. The Farm of Animals is the home of giraffe, monkey and crane. Over the entire wall of the house the monkey herd jumps over the head of a giant giraffe from window to window. The balconies are made of wicker. At the well, so many small animals have hidden.
    Courtyard of the mythical creatures
The artist Viola Schöpe designed the walls in a combination of sgraffito and mosaic with mythical creatures in the "Court of the Mythical Creatures". On the southern facade, the river of life is symbolically represented. He shows the life together and the intention to liven things up with a good vibration. The northern facade leads to the astral realm of the higher energies, cosmic elements, stars, comets, and love as the all-pervading element that holds the universe together. Viola Schöpe, the artist of the court wants to speak her works of art herself and let the observer transform. Their characters usually have a double history: a mythological and a material one. Schöpe designed a 900 m² wall surface with different ornamental tiles. Many ornamental flows come from Portuguese factories, while the red and blue tiles come from Italy and the golden tiles from Meissen.
