Description
Allium hollandicum 'Purple Sensation'
Height x Spread: 75cm x 30cm
This striking Allium has medium sized spherical flower clusters in early summer, making it brilliant for adding bright purple punctuation to most borders. The leaves of 'Purple Sensation' start to die off as it comes into flower.
This is perfectly normal and if planted in a mixed border or amongst roses the leaves are not noticeable. If you can, refrain from removing the faded flowerheads, as they look beautiful edged with early winter frost. A sunny border with reasonably nutrient rich soil is best for these bulbs.
