1946: A young Julie Andrews
A singer from the very beginning, Julie made her stage debut at the age of 11 for a Fleet Street Club luncheon in London.
1951: Working in theater
At the age of 13, Julie was chosen to perform at the Royal Command Variety Performance.

After working on Mary Poppins, Julie traveled to Salzburg, Austria to begin work on The Sound of Music. The film was a massive success, becoming the highest-grossing film in history — until Jaws came out a decade later in 1975.

1966: A Golden Globe winner
Julie is seen accepting a Golden Globe for Best Actress for her role as Fraulein Maria in The Sound of Music. That same year she was nominated for an Oscar in the same category.
1967: 'Thoroughly Modern Millie'
In 1967, Julie played Millie Dillmount in the Academy Award-winning film Thoroughly Modern Millie, alongside Mary Tyler Moore and Dorothy Brown.
Sadly, Julie and Tony also divorced this year. "The marriage was over and my head was so full of clutter and garbage," the actress recently revealed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. "Believe it or not, it was [filmmaker] Mike Nichols who really tipped me into wanting to go to therapy."
1968: Falling in love
Julie worked with her future husband, Blake Edwards, while filming Darling Lili, of which she was the star and he was the director.
