According to RocketNews24, starting September 5, KFC Japan will offer a deep-fried corn potage at participating restaurants. The potage, or soup, will be breaded and then cooked until crisp on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside. KFC Japan stated in a press release that the inspiration for the crispy flavor bomb came from a recipe for potato-bacon fritters in Colonel Sanders' autobiography.

RocketNews24 also adds that, for some reason, creamy corn soup is currently on trend in Japan. "A common fixture in Japanese cafes, its popularity exploded when popular popsicle brand Gari Gari-kun expanded its lineup to include a corn potage flavor," reports the site. "[It] went on to become such a huge hit, stores couldn't keep it in stock."
