Kelly Reilly heats up a freezing night in Paris in backless dress as she joins Denzel Washington at Flight premiere

He's a Hollywood A-lister with two Oscars to his name and has been nominated for another one.

But on Tuesday night, Denzel Washington was happy to let his Flight co-star Kelly Reilly be the centre of attention at the Paris premiere of the film.

While Denzel, 58, kept warm on the freezing night in his coat, English actress Kelly, 35, bared some flesh in a dramatic black gown with cut-out back.

The pair and their co-stars are on the European promotional trail for the new drama, which has been nominated for two Academy Awards, including Best Actor for Denzel.

Also in attendance was the film's director Robert Zemeckis, former Heroes star Jimmy Jean-Louis and Italian actress Caterina Murino.

Flight stars Denzel as troubled airline pilot Whip Whitaker, who battles drink and drug problems while on the job.

Rising star Kelly, who plays Mary Watson in the recent Sherlock Holmes movies, plays a recovering heroin addict Nicole.

In a recent interview, Denzel admitted he abstained from alcohol during the film, but over-indulged in food so he could look bloated.

He told Seven magazine: 'I absolutely did not drink the entire picture. Normally I might have a glass of wine after work or something like that.

'But on this one I was afraid I might get too into it, and I just wanted to be clear. I want to give 100 per cent of myself and I want to be focused.

'I ate a lot. I ate what I wanted and I ate late at night. I knew this was a man who drank and did drugs. He's not going to be going to the gym and he's going to be not sleeping enough. (I) wanted my gut to be hanging out. You've got to go there because that's who he is. There's no cute version.'

Flight is due for release in the UK on February 1.
