Video and audio options

The mirror blends seamlessly with most vehicle interiors and automatically dims or brightens depending on the time of day. The monitor features two video inputs for front- and rear-view cameras, and adjusting parking lines and more is easy thanks to the touchscreen controls. When your mobile phone is connected to the mirror, you'll be able to listen to navigation prompts, music, and more with the mirror's built-in speaker. For better sound, connect your phone's Bluetooth to your car stereo's Bluetooth (if equipped), or broadcast audio from the mirror to your radio via an unused FM frequency.

Installation

Installation will require the replacement of your factory rear-view mirror, and running wire for power and video between the Boyo VTW73M mirror and any video source. If you have not attempted this kind of job before, we recommend professional installation.

Rearview Mirror-Monitor: The BOYO VTW73M combines a 8.5" rearview mirror with an inset 7.3" LCD monitor (1280 x 390) that is centered within the mirror. The thickness of the mirror's glass is 4mm; its highly reflective and strong enough to resist impact.

Note: The rearview mirror-monitor comes with a universal mounting bracket. Crutchfield also offers a variety of vehicle specific mounting brackets which can be purchased separately (see accessory list). In addition to these brackets, you'll also need a windshield mount repair kit which can be purchased at most auto parts store (sold separately).

Split Screen: In addition to filling up the entire 7.3" LCD monitor with one image, you can select split screen which will display two images at once side by side. Now you can view the backup camera input image along with your smartphone's screen mirroring image at the same time on the BOYO VTW73M.

Auto Brightness & Picture Adjustment: Automatic brightness adjustment helps you see a clear image day or night. You can also manually adjust the LCD monitor's brightness, contrast, color.

Screen Mirroring: The BOYO VTW73M allows you to mirror your Apple iOS iPod/iPhone/iPad (via AirPlay) or Android smartphone/table (via Miracast) on the rearview mirror's 7.3" LCD monitor. This allows you to view navigation apps, videos, and photos on the rearview mirror-monitor. If an audio signal is present, then the audio will also be sent along with the video signal.

Camera Input w/ Auto Switching: The BOYO VTW73M features a composite video jack for its camera input, so you can add an external backup camera (sold separately). It also features automatic rear-view switching. This means that when you place your vehicle in reverse gear, the rearview mirror-monitor will automatically switch over to the backup camera's video signal so you can see what's behind you immediately.

Video Input: In addition to the composite video camera input, the rearview mirror-monitor features a second composite video input for connecting a front dash camera (sold separately) or other external video source (sold separately).

Audio Output: The rearview mirror-monitor is equipped with a built-in speaker and also features a set of stereo RCA outputs. The stereo RCA outputs can be used to send the rearview mirror-monitor's audio signal to your vehicle's car stereo system (your car stereo must be equipped with an Aux input).

Mounting Options: The BOYO VTW73M rearview mirror-monitor replaces your vehicle's existing factory rearview mirror. The rearview mirror-monitor's mounting bracket offers adjustable tilt & swivel.

when a phone is connected , and using the audio output to a source unit , can i make phone calls using the mic on my phone , while playing the call audio through the radio?

That's a really good question Matthew. Since you have to disable Bluetooth to use the Miracast function through Wi-fi, this should send any audio on the phone to the Mirror, and then to your vehicle's speakers through the audio output on the mirror when connected to your aux in. This should allow you to make calls on your phone as usual and hear the audio through the speakers. Boyo doesn't specify, only stating ANY audio present on the phone. If the Boyo mirror is connected to car's aux audio will I be able to stream music from my phone to car speakers?

When this replacement mirror is connected to a radio's aux audio input, the audio from any content that you mirror on it will be heard through the speakers connected to the radio. I tried to get the measurements as close as possible. The outside of the external is as follows, It is 8 inches across the top and the bottom overall is 9 1/2 inches. From top to bottom it is 3 3/8 inches. If You measure from the top center to the bottom center it is about 1/4 taller for the power button. Hope this helps.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 and I had to contact the Boyo help desk to get the WIFII link to work. They were very helpful. I called Crutchfield for technical help, and while they were very responsive they were unable to resolve the problem but they did give me the technical help line phone number for Boyo (which I no longer have).

just assume that the miracast wont work. If it ends up working then its a bonus. Its a very good looking mirror screen.

I installed this in My Daughters 2011 Dodge caravan. She uses it with a Samsung phone and it works great. You can hear directions and see maps great. It is a great product.

If You are mirroring the maps app then I would say it uses data for that. Im guessing it doesnt use any more data. The phone and mirror actually message each other by bluetooth which uses no data to show it on the mirror

What is the purple "line 1 trigger" wire for? I understand the green wire for the backup camera "trigger" by hooking to the reverse switch, but the purple wire confuses me.

You could, for example, purchase a very small second camera and install it on the passenger side outside mirror, looking at the blind spot and trigger it with the right hand turn signal or a separate switch (or both!)

When the purple wire is connected to +12 volts, the image on the monitor switches to what is coming in on the yellow plug marked "VIDEO." (Note that the backup camera connects to the yellow plug marked "CAM.")
