Rachel McAdams just wore a surprisingly simple hair style that really doesn't get seen enough: the wavy bun. Now, we're all for slicked back buns, Tinker Bell topknots, ballerina buns and messy buns alike, but right now with summer approaching, we're team wavy bun, thanks to Miss McAdams.

The actress wore her blonde tresses in neat yet relaxed waves, pulled back into a simple bun, loose enough to leave the waves intact. The look was styled for the red carpet by celebrity hairstylist Mark Townsend, and worn to the LA premiere of her upcoming film Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret.

But all we can think of is how perfect it is for holiday dins. Picture it now; sweeping up your hair, all wavy from the sun and salt of a long day at the beach, fastening it in a sophisticated low bun while you stuff your face with Lays crisps and Fanta Limón. Ruining your appetite before putting on that perfect 'holiday evening dress' that came just in the nick of time with your next day delivery.

It's a style that will work with your holiday hair texture, embracing it rather than trying to fight it, or fight humidity for that matter. As it's tied up and textured it doesn't need to be perfect, and has minimal manipulation or styling time, exactly what you want on your hols. It's that perfect balance of casual sunshine vibes, dolled up a bit for when you want to look cute in the evening.

If your hair needs a bit more encouragement for waves, or you haven't actually been in the sea, you can try a texture spray or wave spray to help it on its way. While a bit of salty sea water is OK to leave in your hair, if it's a pool you've been swimming in you will need to wash it to get the chlorine out.

And of course for those with totally straight hair you can always put your hair in french braids during the day to create a wave, or use a waver. But don't be salty about the extra effort, just remember you're blessed when it comes to humidity.

Healthy Summer Hair Hack: To protect your hair when swimming, get it wet in the shower first, this way when you get in the pool (or even the sea), it will absorb less of the water as it's already saturated.
