Kristen Stewart Says She Would Wear Her “Twilight” Wedding Dress Again

One of the most memorable moments from the Twilight film series was when Bella (played by Kristen Stewart) and Edward (played by Robert Pattinson) tied the knot in a dreamy forest wedding, which took place during the 2011 movie, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1. During the highly-anticipated scene, Bella walked down the aisle in a timeless wedding dress that was perfect for the occasion: a Carolina Herrera long-sleeved crepe satin gown with an open lace back. To this day, Stewart still holds that frock in high regard.

During an interview with WhoWhatWear on March 15, 2024, the actress reflected on the garment and the moment she first wore it. “I love that dress so much,” she gushed. “I remember getting into it. It felt like getting into a real wedding dress because I was being hidden in some room with heaters and I was like, ‘It’s too hot in here, and my makeup’s melting off.’ And they’re like, ‘Well, we’re not going to be ready for another 30 minutes.’ It was like, ‘But I’m ready now. This is the time that I can play the bride.’”

Stewart, who is currently engaged to Dylan Meyer, revealed that when she initially pictured a marriage ceremony, she always imagined a traditional gown, like the one her character wore in the motion picture. “I think if I were to ever do a classic wedding dress, this is kind of the one,” she admitted. However, she noted that for her wedding to Meyer, she isn’t going to choose a frock in that particular style.  

For Bella’s wedding dress, Stephanie Meyer, the author of the Twilight series, sought out bridal designer Carolina Herrera. “Being a big follower of The Twilight Saga, I was very flattered to be a part of this fantastic project,” she told Vogue in 2011. Once she was given the job of creating the piece, the designer said she knew it “had to be magical.” 

After conceptualizing and executing Bella’s wedding dress, Herrera said the initial fitting, when Stewart first tried on the gown, was a surreal experience for the actress. “When Kristen put the dress on and looked in the mirror, she was very moved,” she recalled to the publication. “In that moment, she was not an actress or a character in a film; she was a bride—and a happy one at that.”

Like Stewart, Stephanie was also pleased with the final product because it fit her vision but exceeded her expectations. “I wanted the dress to be something special, not something that you’re going to see every day,” the author told E! News. “I love what Carolina did with it. She came up with a stunning concept. It’s similar to what I envisioned but with added elements.”
