Seiji Ozawa sends his love

It’s been said that absence makes the heart grow fonder, and we totally agree. So, it seems, does Seiji Ozawa. Though living these days in Tokyo, the former conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra clearly still keeps the Hub close to his heart. Ozawa took this adorable photo with his daughter, Seira, wearing T-shirts sent to them by the BSO. Ozawa reports that he’s recovered from cancer and will be back on the podium this summer. . . . Meanwhile, this weekend’s Evening at Pops concert benefiting the Joslin Diabetes Center drew an enthusiastic crowd, including Joslin CEO John Brooks and the evening’s honoree,
Danielle Handler, a senior at Newton North High School and patient at Joslin for 10 years who’s helped other youngsters living with diabetes.
