Journalist Jenny Lernerat believes she has stumbled on a sex scandal, until she is abducted for a secret meeting with the president. There, she discovers she has blundered onto the biggest news story ever: a comet is on course to collide with earth. A joint US-Russian space mission led by a veteran astronaut tries to blast the threat off course.
