What If the 2025 or 2026 Tesla Model Y Refresh Makes It Sleeker Than the Model 3?

People are already singing praises to the Tesla Cybertruck, a full-size EV pickup truck we have been waiting for since November 2019 but only now has started populating showrooms and making the review rounds. We bet that opinions will be divided on several things, including the edgy design, the well-known build quality issues, and the potentially astonishing performance on and off the pavement.

Meanwhile, the Tesla Model 3 'Highland' is slowly but steadily getting adopted worldwide – in America, the pre-facelift version is still on sale for $38,990, but most likely, customers want to see how the facelift performs in different conditions before opting for one or the other. So far, so good, with reports of the Long Range doing great in the cold and the Performance version getting ready to set new standards on and around the world's racetracks, and especially America's quarter-mile dragstrips.

Naturally, with all the commotion around the Cybertruck and the refreshed Model 3, you would think there's no more time to think about any other Tesla. Well, you would be wrong because the rumor mill never sleeps, and the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is always ready for the next challenge. As such, are we wondering why the world's best-selling EV, Tesla's Model Y, has entered their crosshairs?

With the updated Tesla Model 3 hitting dealerships worldwide shortly, it would be easy to imagine that Tesla could bestow the same kind of upgrades upon the Model Y – the rumor mill even claims this facelift may be named 'Juniper.' The upgraded mid-size EV crossover SUV could sport the same front fascia as the lesser sedan and follow suit with the interior changes, too. It could also swiftly go on sale next year, sometimes after the second half, with about the same prices or even lower MSRPs.

However, the good folks over at the Q Cars channel on YouTube aim to daze and amaze the audience with a potential extreme styling of their vision for the upcoming Model Y update. According to their resident pixel master, an encompassing Tesla refresh of the CUV might ultimately make the Model 3 obsolete – the sleeker appearance blurs the lines between the sedan and crossover formats to the point of CGI invisibility.

Well, it's certainly a nice dream, but it will probably remain forever wishful thinking. Tesla will likely not spend the loads of cash it doesn't have to completely rework the Model Y into a crossover-sedan like the Toyota Crown and basically renders the Model 3 useless. Instead, we are pretty sure the company will choose the safer, cheaper way of making the Model 3 and Y two peas in the same EV pod.
