Original Rafael Kubelík Conductor Signed Program Cornell 1954 - $6K APR w/CoA
ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Presenting a captivating piece of music ephemera, a program from a Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam performance at Bailey Hall, Cornell University, held on October 17th, 1954, under the baton of the esteemed Czech conductor and composer, Rafael Jeroným Kubelík, KBE. (1914-1996) Son of the renowned violinist Jan Kubelík, Rafael Kubelík received his training in Prague and debuted with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra at a remarkable age of 19. This program bears Kubelík's signature on the front cover, adding to its allure.
Accompanying the program is the original ticket stub, affixed to the front, revealing the astonishingly modest price of $1.80 for a Dress Circle seat, underscoring the significant inflation witnessed over the past seven decades. Inside the program, penciled in, is the phrase "Slavonic Dance," indicating one of Antonín Dvořák's symphonies that Kubelík was conducting post-intermission.
This artifact provides a rare and insightful glimpse into a historic musical event, serving as a valuable addition to any collection of music memorabilia.
