“The Fabelmans” may have had lackluster box-office turnout before it was steamrolled at the Oscars by “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” a fate met by just about every other best-picture contender at the 2023 awards show, but Spielberg is still a prolific producer through Amblin. He had a hand in producing Bradley Cooper’s “Maestro” for Netflix and Warner Bros.’ redo of “The Color Purple” this holiday season, following Spielberg’s adaptation of the acclaimed Alice Walker novel in 1985. Spielberg also produced new installments of “Indiana Jones” and “Transformers” over the summer. As for streaming series, Spielberg’s “Masters of the Air” is finally ready at Apple and will premiere in January, while an animated “Jurassic World” series is being prepped at Netflix, where Spielberg produced 2023’s “Life on Our Planet,” a spinoff of Netflix’s high-profile nature docuseries. With “Maestro” out the door, Cooper will star in Spielberg’s next directorial effort, a revival of 1968 action-thriller “Bullitt.”
