Strida vs Strida Mini Comparison

I have 2 Strida (website link).
One is the Strida 5.1 QR+ and the other is the Strida Mini. Let’s look at the differences between the two.

equal parts

steering part

The width of the handlebar is the same. Both are 500mm.
The grip in the picture is what I put on, so please refer to it.

difference

disc brake

Both are disc brakes. However, there are some differences.

Both brakes work great, but the new one has an extra tensioning screw. If you don’t have this part, there is no big problem.
This is because the handlebar brake lever part also has a tension adjustment screw.

handlebar fold

Since the Strida Mini is an older model, the shape of the handlebar folding part is different from the Strida.

You have to press a small button to fold the handlebar. The Strida Mini is not comfortable to press.
The regular Strida is a new type, so it is easy to press because the pressing part is flat and plate-shaped, while the Strida Mini is small and round, so it is not easy to fold.

brake lever

There is a difference in the lever part, but it is not so much that you feel uncomfortable.

Both are doing their job well enough.
Aesthetically, the new normal strida looks much prettier.

crank/crank arm

Cranks have an important difference.
In general, if you are a tall adult riding a professional bike, your cranks will be around 170, 172.5 or 175.
The strida has a 165 crank length.
On the other hand, the Strida Mini has a crank length of 152.

Looks like a very nice crank arm setup in my opinion.
In addition to the crank arm length, there are also some differences in shape.

Well, it’s just a version difference, and it doesn’t seem to matter.

And the shape of the crank is also slightly different. Look at the image below.

I don’t think it’s a part to say which is better or not.

Pedals are the same. Folding and unfolding is the same.

wheel

Wheels are different, of course.
The Strida is 16 inches and the Strida Mini is 14 inches.

The size of the wheel is also different, but the color of the rim part is also different.
The strida is black, but the strida mini is silver.
And if you look at the picture below, the location structure of the guide part that holds the belt so that it doesn’t break away is also slightly different.

The mini’s belt guide is more rearward.

Size comparison when folded

There is quite a difference in size when folded.

If you measure the length, the strida is 110cm and the strida mini is 97cm.

Size comparison when unfolded

Let’s check it out even when it’s not folded.

The height from the floor to the handle is 106 cm for the Strida and 95 cm for the Strida Mini.
Quite a difference right?

saddle

The saddle is also slightly different.
The difference is that the new model has a plastic guard.

saddle clamp part

The strida is not easy to adjust the saddle height. Adjusting the height is quite cumbersome, but even if the new model has been improved, it is not easy.
Still, the new ones are much easier to adjust than the old ones.
The old version of the strida requires you to open the saddle to adjust it, while the new version allows you to “adjust” the height by loosening the clamp and pulling the lever.

BB

The BB part is also slightly different. I guess it’s because they’re different sizes.

reinforced part

In the past, some riders rode violently with the strida and the frame was torn, and there is a part where the frame was reinforced.
You can see that in the new version.
The Strida Mini is an old form.

Strida and Strida mini size comparison

I bought a used Strida mini and decorated it neatly again.
New tires, tubes and new grips.
It is difficult for women who are under 153cm in height to ride a regular Strida.
Even if you try to ride with the saddle as low as possible, the steering wheel is too high.
It would be nice if the strida mini were re-produced, but that’s not likely.
Strida is fixed using the frame elasticity when folded. As the frame size gets smaller, the folding process takes a little more force due to the shorter frame length when folding.

The Strida Mini uses hooks to hold the frame when folded.

The Strida Mini uses a hook that can hold the frame when folded.
The Strida Mini uses a hook that can hold the frame when folded.

So, as you can see in the picture above, I attached a separate ring to hold the frame.

The driving feeling is not very different from the regular / mini.
The unique steering feel is also similar.

Short women are recommended to purchase a used Strida Mini.
A regular strida is pretty big.
