The incredible Aurora Borealis and where to find them this winter!
If you have Aurora Borealis or the Northern Lights bookmarked for the longest time, this winter is the perfect time to fulfill that wish. In places where this phenomenon is common, the period between November and March is when you have the maximum chance of seeing this. This is when the skies are clearer, one of the most important environmental conditions for auroras.

Svalbard, Norway
You are very close to the North Pole! Here, from November to February, they have something called polar nights. This is when the nighttime lasts for more than 24 hours. Which only means more chances to see the Northern Lights.

They call this city the heart of the aurora zone. Here, one gets to see Aurora Borealis from September onwards!

Fairbanks, Alaska
Good news, Fairbanks is located right where there are a lot of aurora activities. Meaning, the residents regularly get to see Aurora Borealis in the winter months.

Finland

The capital city of Iceland is another great place to see these lights. Here, the lights start to appear from September to March. In Reykjavik, you might get some light pollution, though the lights would still be visible.

This is the Arctic Circle. Also Santa’s home! Rovaniemi is your ultimate winter wonderland, complete with Aurora Borealis and a chance to see Santa. We know for sure that you can visit Santa any time of the year. But to see the light, you better go between September to April.
