‘If I were Liverpool’: Christian Vieri tells Klopp to sign £77m striker, he’d be truly ‘perfect’ for them

Italy legend Christian Vieri has urged Liverpool to make a move for Victor Osimhen this summer.

The Reds currently have one of the best front lines in world football, but there’s always scope for improvement.

In addition, Sadio Mane is being linked with Bayern Munich, so he could potentially leave.

Also, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino are out of contract next summer.

A number of forwards have been linked with Liverpool recently, such as Darwin Nunez and Arnaut Danjuma.

Now, Vieri has thrown Osimhen’s name into the hat, suggesting the Napoli star would be “perfect” for the Reds.

The former Inter Milan powerhouse gave his verdict on his Twitch channel, BoboTV.

Relayed by Napoli Magazine and Sport Witness, Vieri said: “If I were Liverpool, I would go and take Osimhen from Napoli.

“Everyone runs in Klopp’s squad, they go a thousand miles an hour. He would be perfect.”

Can Liverpool beat Premier League rivals to ‘phenomenal’ striker?

Osimhen may have not been linked with Liverpool just yet, but other big Premier League clubs are reportedly eyeing him.

North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are apparently in pursuit of the Nigeria international.

Newcastle United are reportedly eyeing Osimhen too.

The 23-year-old was in sensational form last season, registering 17 goals and six assists in 29 Napoli appearances.

Osimhen also scored four goals for Nigeria in World Cup qualifying during the 2021-22 campaign.

Cagliari coach Walter Mazzarri told DAZN last year, via Football Italia: “Osimhen is phenomenal because he runs alone at five players and gets through.

“If you look at genuine scoring opportunities, compared to the number Napoli created lately, I didn’t see that many.

“We intentionally kept a deep defensive line, because if we pushed higher like the other teams, we’d concede four or five… with Osimhen able to run into space.”

However, the former Lyon man won’t come cheap. Some reports have suggested that Napoli want £84million for him.

Meanwhile, La Repubblica – via Sport Witness – recently mentioned a price tag of ‘around €90million’, or £77million.
