Annotation of edit:
My for this developed edit was to take a further photo shoot, which has been completed, to produce higher standard edits. I find this edit to be effective due to the shadowing behind the hands and also the main subject of the eye. The eye is the only part of this edit which is in colour as it is what will draw the attention from the viewer on to it. The adjustments i made in Photoshop was the saturation levels of the hands in the backgrounds and the lightness also blending the two images together. These pictures were taken on a DSLR as I am able to capture good quality images from this. |
Annotation of edit: I felt that this edit was most effective as it was partly influenced by Jerry Uelsmann however it was mostly my own interpretation on the theme Fantastic and Strange. I layered two images over the top to create an illusion of the models face through the hand covering her facial features. I felt it looked best in black and white as the darkness from her hair and jumper forces the lighter areas of her face to show up more. My main aim for this piece was to make the viewer look twice. Adjustments that were made during the process of editing was an increase in contrast, brightness, lightness and a decrease in saturation to create the monochrome effect. I think the composition in this piece is effective because her head is placed near the center where the eye would natural fall when looking at an image, thus immediately drawing the attention of the viewer sharply focused on the model. |
Annotation of edit:
For this edit, my aim was to create an abstract piece of work in the style of Jerry Uelsmann. His specific theme of working is interesting and influenced my work highly. I wanted to capture alot of symmetry for this piece from the backdrop as many of Jerry's work is symmetrical. I took both images on a DSLR to ensure good quality images for my editing process. In Photoshop, the adjustments I made were the change in brightness and decreasing the saturation levels slightly. If i were to develop this image further I would experiment with other locations consisting of symmetry and other facial features for the chosen theme. |
Annotation of edit:
Following with a symmetrical theme similar to Jerry Uelsmann's, I chose another environment consisting of colour to add to make this image effective. My aim was to mirror the image to produce a mirror line from where the image has been flipped. I then incorporated a portrait from a previous photo shoot. Adjustments i made in Photoshop were the saturation levels being decreased, mirroring the image and turning up the brightness. If i were to develop this image further or redo completely, I would retake some portraits and use better focused images of facial features to place around the image. |
Annotation of edit: I felt this image was effective as the facial features blend well colour wise due to some adjustments I had made in Photoshop. My aim for this edit was to create something different compare to what Uelsmann work was, although still being inspired by him at the same time. I wanted to work on a nature based investigation therefore taking extra photos of natural forms in order to fulfill this aim. The adjustments I had made in Photoshop consisted of the change in facial feature colours to blend with the background, the brightness and lightness levels. If I were to develop or redo this image further then i would experiment more with facial features such as eyes to create a variety of edits. |
