Former Inter striker Christian Vieri believes that the Nerazzurri’s 2-0 victory over Fiorentina on Friday evening was of great importance to their Scudetto charge.

Antonio Conte’s side moved top of the table, at least until AC Milan face Crotone later today, as goals from Nicolo Barella and Ivan Perisic secured victory at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Speaking on his own Twitch live stream yesterday, former Inter and Atletico Madrid star Vieri assessed the importance of picking up all three points for the Nerazzurri, as well as being able to secure a first away win since December.

“An extremely important victory, away from home and especially in Florence it is never easy to win,” the 47-year-old declared. “Inter played well, took their chances and returned to Milan with three more points of great importance to the table.”

Inter look to continue their push for a first league title since 2010 when they welcome in-form Lazio to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza next Sunday.

Italian international Vieri scored 123 goals in 190 appearances for the Nerazzurri from 1999 to 2005, lifting the Coppa Italia in his final season before departing for city rivals Milan on a free transfer.
