Anniversary of Sergei Rachmaninoff celebrated in Paris

The "Sergei Rachmaninoff: I am a Russian composer" exhibition and a round table discussion dedicated to the personality of the musician and his work were organized at the Russian House of Science and Culture in Paris to mark the 150th anniversary of the Russian composer. The events were prepared jointly with the Russian National Museum of Music with the support of the Russian Ministry of Culture and the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in France, the website of the Russian Ministry of Culture reports.

General Director of the Russian Museum Mikhail Bryzgalov, speaking to the audience, spoke about the childhood and adult years of Sergei Rachmaninoff, the composer's works, as well as the foreign periods of his life.

The composer's great-granddaughter Alexandra Conus-Brochard took part in the events.

The President of the Rachmaninoff Paris Russian Conservatory, Count Pyotr Sheremetev, recalled that the composer supported cultural figures and transferred funds to the Defense Fund of the Soviet Union.
