Tyra Banks isn’t shying away from the big 5-0, taking inspiration from other stars who recently celebrated turning 50.

The former America’s Next Top Model host is embracing her age as she inches closer to turning 50 on Dec. 4. While speaking to the Daily Mail at the Como 1907 charity gala in Villa Erba, Italy on Nov. 16, Banks praised other women in the industry for giving her a confidence boost when it comes to turning another year older.

“When I was younger, 50 was old, right? It was like a grandma age or something,” Banks said. “Now I look at Jennifer Lopez, I look at Halle Berry, I look at Jennifer Aniston, and I'm like, ‘What the hell is 50?’”

Banks also shared a secret for why she feels good about herself ahead of her upcoming birthday.

“I do think one secret is extra weight, because I’ve not been too skinny,” the supermodel said.

“I think if you’re really skinny, it will age your face. So I think a bit of juice, as it keeps the face nice and juicy naturally. I haven't had injections,” the Coyote Ugly actress continued.

In her early career on the runway, she did have a bit of work done, but hasn’t had any procedures since — although she’s not completely shut-off by the idea, Banks said.

“The only thing I did was my nose, and that was many years ago,” she explained. "I’m not anti [injections] — maybe one day I will, but I haven’t done it yet.”

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air alum echoed those thoughts while speaking to PEOPLE earlier this year about starring in designer Karen Millen's latest ICONS campaign.

"I look in the mirror and I don't feel 50," Banks said in September. "I think 50 is the new 30s."

She continued, "When I look in the mirror, I don't see it. I have not had age plastic surgery stuff. Not against it. I just haven't had it yet. Maybe I'll need a little something, something — I am 50 even though I'm not [yet]. But I'm not insecure about it."

The former Dancing with the Stars host also confessed, "I don't have the body I used to have when I was on runways.”

However, she was grateful for the ICONS campaign that allowed her “to have a tailored piece look good on curves.”

"There's evolution," she said of body positivity at Women@Meredith's #StraightTalk series in March 2021, reflecting on how far the modeling industry has come since the beginning of her career.

"There's constant evolution of everything. I'm happy to have been a part of it, and I'm happy to see people taking it to the next level,” Banks added.
