Orphaned Baby Wombat Comes Out to Play An 8-month-old marsupial gets to know other wombats – and a few teddy bears – at Melbourne's Warrandyte Wildlife Shelter By People Staff Published on July 31, 2012 01:00PM EDT Don’t worry, Caddy – we won’t bite! This 8-month-old wombat has been finding her way around her new pouch at Melbourne’s Warrandyte Wildlife Shelter. Her fabric cubby has been acting as a comfort for Caddy, who lost her mother in a car accident last month. “She’s a dear little thing,” says shelter manager Linda Sauvarin. “She still has a long way to go.” With the help of her two teddy bears, Caddy has been getting to know her new home. When she gets to be big enough, she’ll be released back into the wild. [RELATED_TEXT “Can’t get enough pet news?
