“I sometimes ask myself if it’s even worth living” is a line in a rare personal letter that World War II hero Oskar Schindler wrote to his right-hand man, Itzhak Stern, in 1963.

The letter, which is for sale at MomentsInTime.com for $32,500, was obtained from a Stern descendant.

The German-language, typewritten two-page letter signed by Schindler is about financial matters.

After the war, Schindler — who went to extraordinary lengths to protect Jewish lives, including bribing Nazi officials — started a string of business ventures, all of which failed.

Schindler went to Argentina, went bankrupt, split with his wife and returned to West Germany.

He died in 1974, and is buried on Mt. Zion in Jerusalem.
