Arugula is an annual plant that is used in salads, on pizza, in smoothies and much more. It has generally gained popularity in Danish cooking in recent years and has a very distinctive strong, slightly bitter flavor that most children dislike, but adults love.
Arugula is a wonderful plant that just keeps on giving all season long. The more arugula you eat, the more leaves the plant produces, so feel free to keep cutting.
If the plant flowers, the leaf growth stops. However, this can be avoided if you simply cut the flowers down continuously - this also prevents the arugula from dropping seeds and self-seeding where it shouldn't be (e.g. between the tiles, where it likes to grow).
