RSS steht für die einfache Verbreitung von Inhalten

RSS feeds enable users to subscribe to or view a Web site or online article. The content is automatically downloaded onto your computer or other device.

RSS stand for Really Simple Syndication and is usually referred to as an RSS feed. Content creators use RSS to send out a signal and short description of an online article or other offer.

Advantages of Feed Technology

RSS allows users to subscribe to a Web site or part of a Web site. Content can then be automatically downloaded to a computer or other device.

It allows users to get the latest, most up-to-date information automatically and easily. The technology not only works with text but also with audio and video content.

Download Feed-Readers for Free

To subscribe to an RSS feed, you need to download a so-called feed aggregator, better known as a feed reader. This program will automatically update the content you have subscribed to whenever it is opened. Some browser-based readers, including My Yahoo, Bloglines and Newsgator, allow you to access, read and update your feeds on any computer with an internet connection.

Many feed readers for all operating systems are available for free online. For an overview of readers go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_feed_aggregators

Your Personal Internet at your Fingertips

Using feeds is very simple. When you are interested in subscribing to a feed from a particular Web site, just copy and paste the URL (internet address) of the feed into your reader. Newer browsers like Firefox, Safari and the new Internet Explorer allow you to do this directly.

These new browsers automatically check if there are any available feeds for each Web site you visit. If there are, the browser will display the RSS icon in the address box.

Content for Your Web site

Internet feeds are not just available for your own private use, but can also be used to display content from other Web sites on your site or blog. DW-WORLD.DE also offers a service that will provide you with a customized feed box to place on your Web site. You can set up a box to include whichever categories of the DW-WORLD.DE news site you wish.

Using a feeds system, you will then have current info automatically loaded onto your site without having to edit or write it. This service not only helps you open up to new users but also to keep current users coming back.
