1996 HONDA NS-1 (50cc)
Owner Nickname: Luelis

We will introduce the NS-1, that Mr. Luelis used for riding from MY bike.

The NS-1 released from 1991 to 1999 had been equipped with a liquid-cooled, 2-stroke, single-cylinder, 50cc 6-speed. It is not too small for adults to ride compared to the NSR50 in the same class. In addition, it is characterized by a large storage space that flip open the part corresponding to the fuel tank in a common motorcycle, and a full face helmet can be possibly stored (real fuel tank is in the seat cowl).

Luelis's NS-1 has dual headlights, so it is a so-called late model. By the way, I had been used for riding on the NS-1 when I was in high school, but it was the early model of a square headlight with a single bulb.

Luelis purchased it at the introduction from his acquaintance when he was a high school student. The NS-1 was his first motorcycle that had been used from going to school to a daily use. I was very happy because it was exactly the same usage (laughs). As "Luelis" commented, there is no denying on power shortage, especially on the steep slopes of the mountain pass. I had a measure about it by bore up customizing.

The riding on the NS-1 was very fun, and the maintenance of it was also very easy. That is why it is a perfect bike for the "Introduction Mission Bikes for Beginner's" where you can easily challenge the maintenance and customizing by yourself.

Now, it has become a little bit expensive, but this bike is recommended for practice of riding, maintenance, and customizing before going to a more expensive and larger motorcycle!

From MY Bike Comment
Motivation for Purchase / Purpose

I purchased this NS-1 at the introduction from my acquaintance when I was a high school student. It was my first bike that had been used from going to school to a daily use. I want to ride it once again. The fuel consumption was 25km/L at the time. Its maximum speed was 85km/h (6-gear at 10,500rpm).

Advantages

The NS-1 has an overwhelming power of 2 stroke engine. It is possible to store many baggages in dammy tank. The fuel tank also has enough capacity by 10L. It became faster by just changing CDI. Since the body size is large, it gave me a superiority and stability when riding.

Disadvantages

There is no torque below 7000rpm. It is quite hard to start on a slope. Some drivers misunderstood it as a big motorcycle and gave me their way. After that, I was eventually overtaken by them.

Advice

It was still cheap before, but now the used NS-1 price is too high. It becomes faster by doing small customizing. But if you get carried away, you may have a traffic accident, so please take care. Overall, it's an excellent bike.
