Acer has launched a new Liquid Zest Plus smartphone, along with TravelMate P2 notebook series and a cloud-based vision for IoT devices called BeingWare, at the annual Computex conference 2016.
Acer’s Liquid Zest Plus smartphone is priced at $199 and comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display, Android 6.0, and a Mediatek processor. The USP of the phone is the 5000 mAh battery, which Acer says will last for three days and can also double up as a power bank.
It has a 13MP rear camera with PDAF, and also supports DTS-HD premium sound.
The smartphone will be available in Europe, Middle East and America markets by July.
Acer also revamped its TransferMate Notebook series with the new P2 devices which have the Intel 6th gen core processors, NVIDIA GeForce 940 M GPU and up to 32 GB DDR4 RAM.
The TravelMate P2 notebooks will ship with Windows 10 Pro and have fully backlit LED display. They will start at $599 and will come in two different screen sizes: 14 and 15.6-inches.
On the IoT front, Acer showcased its BeingWare vision where it plans to connect IoT devices to the cloud to enable real-time data updates, be it at home or in industrial settings or even in the public space.
Essentially BeingWare is a connected, cloud-based solution to help make sense of the data from IoT devices, which are expected to grow vastly in numbers and usage in the coming years.
Acer is looking at BeingWare being used across various use cases – for instance, being synced with air quality monitors at home to give real-time updates about the same, or smart trackers to help keep tabs on loved ones.
In the public space, Acer demoed how its cloud platform can be used in Smart cities to power street lighting in order to make it more energy efficient, while switching street lights on and off automatically when an object is detected.
