Kinner Named All-American at NCAAs

Kinner battles through Blood Rounds for All-American honors

KANSAS CITY, MO- Quinn Kinner has been named an All-American after winning his blood round matchup vs Chance Lamer of Cal Poly at the 2024 NCAA Wrestling Championships at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City. Kinner will wrestle tomorrow morning for seventh place at NCAAs. Kinner is now the ninth Rider All-American in the last ten seasons, including seven NCAA All-Americans and two NWCA All-Americans.

The honor is Kinner's first and also marks back-to-back years Rider has an NCAA All-American after Ethan Laird reached the national semifinals a year ago.

#11 Kinner fell in his first matchup of the weekend vs #22 Gabe Willochell of Wyoming. However, in the second session on day one, Kinner dominated vs #27 Jack Crook of Harvard picking up his third tech fall of the year, winning 16-1 to advance to Day two. Kinner's second day was stellar starting off with a pair of close victories including a 4-3 decision over #21 Willie McDougald of Oklahoma and a 3-2 decision in sudden victory over #20 Jordan Williams of Oklahoma State. With the win over McDougald Kinner would pick up his 100th career win and would continue his tournament in the Blood Round.

In the Blood Round, Kinner squared off against #10 Chance Lamer and again was forced to battle to stay alive. Kinner saved one of his strongest performances of the tournament for the Blood Round as he took down Lamer 10-5 to clinch All-American status.

Kinner dropped his final match of the night on day two to #7 Tyler Kasak of Penn State. He will wrestle tomorrow morning in the match for 7th place at NCAAs against #8 Casey Swiderski of Iowa State.
