That’s when the actress bagged a vital role in Season 1 of HBO’s True Detective in 2014, which entirely changed her career trajectory. Given the opportunity in the HBO series, Alexandra Daddario grabbed the chance to show the world what she could offer. Thus, following her appearance in the show, the actress bagged a $474M movie alongside Dwayne Johnson.
Alexandra Daddario’s Career-Changing Role In True Detective
Working in Hollywood since 15 years of age, Alexandra Daddario, infamous for her glamorous looks and striking blue eyes, landed her first major role in the fantasy adventure, Percy Jackson film series. While the actress was known for her role as Annabeth Chase, alongside the lead actor Logan Lerman, Daddario was yet to be a household name.
Thus, determined to prove her worth in the industry, Alexandra Daddario was desperate to have one opportunity. Eventually, the HBO series True Detective afforded her that opportunity in 2014. Appearing in the first season of the series as Lisa Tragnetti, Daddario significantly uplifted her profile in Hollywood.
Appearing as a court reporter who becomes involved with Woody Harrelson’s character, Martin Hart, the actress thereafter struck several deals. Sitting for an interview with Collider, Alexandra Daddario reflected upon her career-changing role in True Detective. Confessing how her raunchy scene with Woody Harrelson turned her career trajectory, the actress hailed the HBO series for kicking the door wide open to welcome opportunities. Sharing how the creators weren’t initially interested in her during the audition, Daddario mentioned tactically forcing them to hire her.
In an attempt to do something different to impress True Detective creators during the audition, and Hollywood at large, the actress accepted to do n*de scenes. “It’s a long time ago now – getting naked on a show where I didn’t have a huge role, I didn’t know what to expect,” Daddario recalled. However, she mentioned how her decision changed her life and her Hollywood career, forever.
“And then of course that episode aired and my manager called…’The phone’s been ringing off the hook all morning. The phone won’t stop ringing!’ And all of a sudden, everyone in town wanted to meet with me, and then I booked San Andreas.”
Stating how her raunchy scene with Woody Harrelson booked her the $474M San Andreas, alongside Dwayne Johnson, Alexandra Daddario confessed, her decision “was tactical, but not that tactical”. Following her 2015 movie with Johnson, Daddario further appeared in 2017 Baywatch and catapulted her fame in Hollywood.
