Fifteen years later, 2007's Enchanted has a sequel, Disenchanted (now streaming on Disney+). A lot has changed: Princess–turned–New York mom Giselle (Amy Adams) longs for the simpler days when Morgan, now a teenager, loved fairy tales. And, with a new baby, Giselle and Robert (Patrick Dempsey) don't have as much time as they used to. So, they move to the suburbs, and, after Giselle makes a wish for them to live fairy-tale lives, she forgets that in fairy tales, stepmothers are pretty wicked.

Giselle (Amy Adams)

Giselle, sent away by the Queen Narissa of Andalasia (Susan Sarandon), landed in New York City — not exactly a fairy-tale kingdom. She dreamt of reuniting with her Prince Edward (James Marsden), experiencing true love's kiss, and living happily ever after. But then, a handsome widowed lawyer and his adorable daughter rescued her, changing her life forever after.

A decade later, in a new town, with a baby and a teenage daughter, Giselle longs to return to a simpler life. She makes a wish that magically turns their Monroeville suburb into Monrolasia, and turns her into a deliciously wicked stepmother. Who will break the spell this time?

Robert (Patrick Dempsey)

A hard-working lawyer and single father, Robert didn't have much time for romance at the start of Enchanted. Sure, he was dating Nancy (Idina Menzel), but true love's kiss and happily ever after? Nonsense. And then, one day, he found a princess on a billboard, and the rest was herstory.

Now less of a cynic (how can you not be after marrying a former princess who sings with mice all day?), Robert is happy, but wonders if his life has meaning? After Giselle's wish comes true, Robert ditches the suit and goes off to fight dragons. Key change: Robert sings and dances in Disenchanted. How well? Let's just say he'll always be McDreamy.

Nancy/Queen Nancy of Andalasia (Idina Menzel)

Nancy, Robert's co-worker and girlfriend, was smart and every bit the modern New York woman. But a lady needs a little romance, and, while Robert was fine and all, one day, a Prince did come along to whisk her away, animating her like never before.

Tossing those office blazers away, Queen Nancy is now less a tough-talking New Yorker and more of a fairy godmother to Giselle's daughters: baby Sofia and Morgan (Gabriella Baldacchino). Fortunately, the gods have righted their wrong and Menzel is (finally) given a power ballad that everyone will be trying to sing.

Prince Edward (James Marsden)

Dashing Prince Edward discovered that his betrothed, Giselle, was lost in the distant land of New York City. He set off to save her, and slay the evil monsters of Central Park. But, when faced with giving up Giselle for her true love, he walked away gracefully and met Nancy. He saved her from New York and asked her to be his Andalasian queen.

Flash forward to now and Edward is pretty much still the same: a dashing prince with eyes only for his queen. And yes, they still live happily ever after.

Queen Narissa (Susan Sarandon) and Malvina (Maya Rudolph)

If there's one thing Queen Narissa would not tolerate, it was her stepson Edward's future wife, Giselle, being called the fairest in all the land. I mean, look at those brows. But, after she cast Giselle away to New York City, her stepson went to save her. Narissa supplied the ultimate showdown when her true dragon form showed up, and Giselle faced her to save her true love, Robert.

Narissa may have been defeated, but this is Monrolasia and there's a new queen in town now: Malvina (Maya Rudolph) is Monroeville's head real estate agent who does not like the best-PTA-mom energy Giselle brings, so when Giselle's wish turns the town upside down, Malvina works to ensure she remains a queen forever.

Morgan (Rachel Covey and Gabriella Baldacchino)

Morgan (Rachel Covey) had never known what it was like to have a mom, and while her dad always made sure she has strong women role models, 6-year-old Morgan just wanted someone with which she could play princesses. So, when she and her dad discovered a princess on a billboard and brought her home, she learned fairy tales are real.

Now a full-fledged New York City teenager, Morgan loves her mom, Giselle, but when she's "literally made of magic" and sings in the drive-thru, it can be a lot. Things quickly go wrong, and Morgan has to save her mother, before she turns into a wicked stepmother for good.

Sidekicks Nathaniel (Timothy Spall) and Rosaline and Ruby (Yvette Nicole Brown and Jayma Mays)

Every baddie has a henchman, and Nathaniel (Timothy Spall) was one sidekick in love. Watching Giselle in New York and reporting back to Narissa in Andalasia, Nathaniel started to wonder if Narissa truly loved him, or was just using him to do her evil bidding. Turning on Narissa after realizing she used his heart, he remained in the city and wrote a book about his former love, My Royal Pain: Vanquishing the Evil Queen Within and lived happily ever after.

New henchwomen Rosaline (Yvette Nicole Brown) and Ruby (Jayma Mays) will do anything for their queen bee, Malvina, including literally stealing from a baby. How much more awful can you be?

Pip (Jeff Bennett and Griffin Newman)

ENCHANTED, Amy Adams, 2007. ©Buena Vista Pictures/courtesy Everett Collection PIP
Disney/Everett; Disney

Pip (Jeff Bennett) was Giselle's forest bestie who got cast away with Giselle to New York City (where he was voiced by Kevin Lima). He tried to warn her about Narissa's evil doings, and almost became roadkill. But, he made it back to Andalasia, where he became a successful storyteller, recounting the tale of Giselle and New York City.

In Disenchanted, Pip (now voiced by Griffin Newman), a dad to two little squirrels of his own, decides to tell them a bedtime story from the time Giselle was a little wicked, and what do wicked stepmothers get? Why, an evil fat cat, of course. Yes, he gets back to his squirrelly antics, but first...do cats have more fun? Maybe.
