Join us in celebrating the legendary Latinx community activist group and its legacies in the contemporary popular uprising in Puerto Rico.

Juan González is a pioneering broadcast journalist and investigative reporter. He is co-host of  the news program Democracy Now!, a founder of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, was a columnist at the New York Daily News for 29 years, and is currently the Richard D. Heffner Professor of Communications and Public Policy at Rutgers. González is the author of four books, including Roll Down Your Window: Stories from a Forgotten America and Harvest of Empire: A History of Latinos in America, which was adapted into a 2012 film, and co-author of News for All the People: The Epic Story of Race and the American Media. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he was raised in New York City and was a founding member of the Young Lords. His presentation at LaGuardia will address his career as an investigative journalist, his activism, and the current popular uprising in Puerto Rico in response to the debt crisis and privatization. Discussion will be led by a LaGuardia journalism student.
