Welcome to the official home page for the Elaine Chapin Fund and thank you for your interest in applying for the scholarships. Named in honor of Elaine Chapin, this scholarship will provide funds to support the post-secondary education of students impacted by multiple sclerosis, either directly or as a family member. Scholarship recipients will be residents of the Saint Louis, Missouri region.
The scholarship fund will accept applications from November 1st through April 30th each year, although the scholarship application is available to download at any time. The family of Elaine Chapin has determined that the scholarship fund will be awarding several scholarships of up to $1000 each school year to deserving students. Scholarship recipients will be notified prior to June 1st. You may see past award recipients by clicking on the "Awards" link on any page. Proof of registration and residency will be required before the scholarship fund makes payment to the schools.
Recipients will be chosen on the basis of financial need, academic standing and/or the impact with which multiple sclerosis has affected their lives. Applicants must be citizens of the United States who plan to enroll or are enrolled at an accredited college, university, vocational or technical school located in the United States. Applicants must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester in course work leading to a degree, license or certificate. Applicants must reside within a 300 mile radius of our offices in St. Louis (see map at the bottom of this page) and proof of that residency will be required and checked out if you are selected as a scholarship recipient.
There is no application fee to apply for this scholarship; however a gesture of a small donation with your application is certainly appreciated. Whether or not a donation is made will have no bearing on determining which students receive the scholarship awards. Checks should be made out to “The Elaine Chapin Fund".
Applicants must send their completed application, an official transcript of their most recent academic grades, a personal essay detailing how MS has affected your life (500 word maximum), plus (2) letters of reference by April 30 to the address listed at the top of the scholarship application for consideration. The final selection of the scholarship recipients will be made by the family of Elaine Chapin.
