Damascus tile decorated with flowers and cintamanis Siliceous paste with polychrome painted decoration under a transparent colorless glaze, in a gilded wood frame Levant, Damascus, late 16th century H. 27 cm - L. 26.5 cm AR The palette and decoration of these tiles, featuring tulips, carnations, cintamanis and tiger stripes (often mistakenly referred to as Buddha lips), are typical of late 16th-century Damascus tiles.
