I had no idea that Mandriva is no more; Mandrake, Mandriva's parent amd Mageia grandparent was my first distro. OMG, the memories, I don't remember well but I think it was Mandrake 9.3 (2002? 2003 maybe?)
That is the closest screenshot I found of my first time using Linux, (not mine, but close enough). After being constricted with DOS and Windows for a decade how magical was Linux for me. And how pretty looked KDE to me. In fact before Linux I didn't care much about computers, let alone programming.

I have plans to explore PCLinuxOS & OpenMandirva in future. Knowing how these distributions were created and have evolved over time is very insightful and interesting.
While I have been using Linux for past 18 Years, this is the first time I have started seriously exploring various distros and writing about them.

Thank you for sharing your experience. While the original Mandirva is gone, there are few derivatives that are carrying on the legacy.
