1970 Piaggio Ape 600 MPV

This 1970 Piaggio Ape 600 MPV is a three-wheeled auto rickshaw that is said to have been refurbished in Italy before its acquisition in 2020 by the seller, who imported it to the US in 2022. The vehicle is finished in two-tone blue and white over color-coordinated vinyl upholstery and powered by a rear-mounted two-stroke 187cc single paired with a four-speed manual transaxle with a reverse gear. Equipment includes seating for seven passengers, 10” wheels, an enclosed cab, removable rear doors, and a white canopy. This Piaggio Ape is now offered with import documents and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

The buggy is said to have been repainted its current shade of two-tone blue and white around 2019 and features an enclosed front cab, a windshield wiper, dual headlights, chrome side mirrors, removable rear doors, a tailgate, rear mud flaps, and a white canopy over the rear passenger compartment. The left headlight bezel is cracked, and a dent on the right cab door is shown up close in the gallery along with paint chips around the vehicle and spots of corrosion on the canopy frame and tailgate hardware.

White-finished 10” steel wheels are mounted with 4.5” Kenda tires. The suspension consists of a single-sided trailing-link front end along with coil springs and shocks at each of the rear wheels. The wheel cylinders, brake shoes, and drums are said to have been replaced at all three wheels under prior ownership.

The cab features a bench seat trimmed in blue and white vinyl along with color-coordinated door panels. Additional appointments include a dash-mounted gear selector, vent windows, and black rubber floor mats.

The two-spoke steering wheel frames a Veglia-Morletti 80-km/h speedometer and an array of warning lights. The five-digit odometer shows 37k kilometers (~23k miles), approximately 400 kilometers of which were added under current ownership.

The rear passenger compartment includes rearward- and forward-facing benches trimmed to match the cabin. Black carpets line the side steps, footwell, and cargo area.

The air-cooled two-stroke 187cc single sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle with a reverse gear. The seller notes that the engine seals, spark plug, and coil were replaced during prior ownership in Italy.
