Hands-On With The Samsung Behold II

Samsung Behold II for T-Mobile

The Google Android-powered Samsung Behold II for T-Mobile has an interface that doesn't look much like other Android phones.

Samsung Behold II Back

On the back of the Samsung Behold II, you'll find a 5-megapixel camera, the same resolution as on the original Samsung Behold.

Samsung Behold II Left Side

There are volume buttons on the left side of the Samsung Behold II. It's a pretty slim, but heavy phone.

Samsung Behold II Right Side

The lock and camera buttons are on the right side of the Samsung Behold II. There's a MicroUSB port and a 3.5-mm headphone jack on the top.

Samsung Behold II Cube

Pressing the "cube" button on the lower right of the phone brings up this bizarre spinning cube interface.

Samsung Behold II Quick List Menu

The Quick List menu on the Samsung Behold II looks a whole lot like the menu from a Samsung non-smartphone.

Samsung Behold II Apps Drawer

The applications drawer pops out from the side of the Samsung Behold II's screen. Many application icons are very different from the standard Android icons.

Samsung Behold II Camera App

The Behold II's camera app looks like other Samsung cameraphones' interfaces, and it's a dramatic improvement from the standard Android camera app.

Samsung Behold II Music Player Compared

Many aspects of the Behold II's interface are much plainer than the stock Android interface shown on the Samsung Moment at left.

Samsung Behold II Messaging App

I can't tell why Samsung made some of the small changes in Android's interface, like they did on the messaging app shown here.

Samsung Behold II Dialer

Another pointless alteration: the dialer. I like the standard Android dialer, at left, more.

Samsung Behold II Call Log

Samsung's changes extend to the call log, as well.

Samsung Behold II Photo Gallery

The Samsung Behold II photo gallery, at right, looks rather plain compared to the stock Android app.

Samsung Behold II Wi-Fi Connection

The Behold II's Wi-Fi setup screen, on the other hand, is much more interesting than the standard Android options.
