Man dies after being shot by FBI agent in Hilltop

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — The FBI said a man died Wednesday after he was shot by an agent in the Hilltop area.

The FBI said the shooting happened around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of Racine Avenue. The FBI said agents were executing a court-authorized federal unlawful flight to avoid prosecution warrant out of North Carolina for David Orlando Andrade Gomez.

While executing the warrant, the FBI said shots were fired and Gomez was injured. He was taken to an area hospital where he died, according to the FBI.

No FBI agents were injured during the shooting.

"The FBI takes all shooting incidents involving our agents or task force members seriously. In accordance with FBI policy, the shooting incident is under investigation by the FBI’s Inspection Division," the FBI said.

No other information has been released.
